Imagination is the Greatest Adventure with Kevin Eastman at the San Diego Comic Art Gallery

My hubby loves me a little more when I surprise him with fun events like this.

The San Diego Comic Art Gallery, located at NTC/Liberty Station, invited educators, students, and their parents to Friday Night Liberty on Friday, September 4th, 2015 for an Open House and Tribute to Teachers, featuring an appearance and signing by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.

Yes, hubby was super excited!

Kevin Eastman is one of the world’s most influential and successful independent comic book artists. He lives in San Diego and maintains a working studio within the San Diego Comic Art Gallery. Eastman’s motto reflects his deep passion for kids and creative thinking: “Imagination is the Greatest Adventure.”

We were able to experience a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at the comics industry. Kevin Eastman's exhibition illustrates how an artist can achieve a dream, how comic books are made, and the remarkable level of thought and creativity that goes into every comic book.

It was awesome meeting Kevin Eastman himself! My kids were in awe! Not to mention hubby was giddy like his own sons!

I also met Sara Richard, one of the animators for My Little Pony.

Some of the awesome things to see at the San Diego Comic Art Gallery:

• A replica of Kevin Eastman’s studio, stuffed with memorabilia, artifacts, and artwork spanning the artist’s professional career—a must-see for any comic fan

• A working artists’ studio where artists of all ages can make a sketch for SDCAG

• Cartooning and gaming contests where kids can win books and other prizes

• Monitors displaying the work of professional IDW comic book editors

• Bi-weekly and monthly gallery tours, artist/writer appearances, and signings

• Comic book readings and artist workshops

• Gift shop filled with collectible, award-winning comic books from IDW Publishing: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, My Little Pony, G.I. Joe, Star Wars, and many others
