Vlog #15: Kicking Off the Summer with the Nissan Rogue

Yay for summer vacation! Now that I'm off of work, I was ready to just chill, but I became a full-time mommy taxi for the family! The first days of summer we hung out at grandma's pool (twice), window shopped and played at the newly renovated Westfield UTC mall, celebrated Fathers Day at our favorite eateries, sent Jelo off to theater summer camp, and of course, the everyday activities like grocery shopping and church.

Thanks to Mossy Nissan in San Diego, we spent the first few days of our summer vacation cruising around sunny San Diego in a new 2018 Nissan Rogue. Scroll down for our favorite features of the Nissan Rogue.

Driving around with kids can make a mommy driver very distracted, which often times I am. The safety features of the Nissan Rogue is what really stood out for me:
  • Drive Assist Display - Center console has a 7 inch display which as lots of features, but what I liked the most was the front and rear facing camera that helps with parking and backing up. There are several views the camera shows. The camera displays the sides, front and back, as well as an amazing overhead view that shows the car as if there was a camera above. It was so helpful in getting into and out of tight parking spaces, as well as navigating through tight parking lots especially during pick-up time at summer camp.
  • Android Auto - Because we've a techie family, this feature was a plus for us. My 9 year-old was excited to sync all our phones to the Android Auto system. Once synced, from the center console you can check emails, texts and make/receive phone calls from your phone. Also, you can set navigation on your phone, then turn by turn prompts will be played on the car's speakers. Hands-free during on the Nissan Rogue was definitely a plus!
  • Blind-Spot Warning - I remember driving school and always being reminded to "check our blind spot" by looking over my shoulders. With the Nissan Rogue, there was orange light indicators near each rear view mirror that lights up if there is a car in the blind spot. For me, this safety feature is very helpful when I'm distracted by one kid asking me a million questions a minute, and the other whining about being hungry, all the while I'm trying to navigate through rush hour, freeway traffic on the way to basketball practice. Thank goodness for this little orange, blind-spot warning lights!
  • Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Cruise Control - Another safety feature is the VDC that works with the cruise control. Once it's set, the Nissan Rogue's speed is set like cruise control, but also allows you to set a safety feature of keeping one, two, or three cars distance from the car in front of you. The Nissan Rogue will automatically brake when the car in-front of you gets too close. Also, the VDC has lane senors to help keep the vehicle in it's lane. The senors "read" the painted lines on the road and keeps the vehicle safely in the center when in cruise control. Although it feels a bit like it, it's not self-driving, you have to keep your hands on the steering wheel. If you veer to the left or right when not on cruise control, crossing a lane inadvertently, the car will beep and lights will flicker on the center console to warn the driver.

Vlog #14: Bend and Twist with Yoga Frog

It's been a busy last few weeks. With end of the school year festivities at my work, as well as my boys' schools, to say we were busy is an understatement. I was able to squeeze in a trip to Las Vegas with my girlfriends though! That's for another vlog!

Today's vlog I wanted to share a fun surprise we got in the mail! My boys couldn't wait to open up the package and play with our new yogi friend Yoga Frog! DJ has been reviewing the yoga moves he's learned at school at Yoga Frog. Check out our vlog on this fun book and accompanying twisty, bendy friend, Yoga Frog.
