#FoodieFriday: Spring Bear Hugs and Sushi

Spring Break was lots of fun for my two boys! Lucky for us we live in America's Finest City with so many fun things to do. Their first request for Spring Break was a visit to Build A Bear. We haven't been to Build a Bear since my older son was about a year old. So this time around, the two brothers had a fun time choosing their new cuddly friend together!

After the fun at Build A Bear, we had lunch at Blue Smoke Sushi. I've wanted to check this place out for a while, but we're usually in the area on a Friday night or weekends when there is a wait for the restaurant. This time, we were lucky on a Monday early lunch time to be seated right away.

Blue Smoke Sushi doesn't have a kids menu but our server Danny suggested ordering off the lunch combination special. So we ordered double of the chicken karaage with an extra side of rice instead of the salad. It was perfect size for my two boys. My boys are fans of chicken katsu and the chicken karaage at Blue Smoke Smoke Sushi satisfied their appetites! My boys ate all of it up!

I had the Albacore Delight which the menu indicated as spicy with two hot pepper pictures next to it in the menu. Inside the roll was albacore and krab mixed with miso sauce, cucumber, and crunch powder. On top of the roll top was more albacore, avocado, chili oil, ponzu, and sesame seeds. Yummy! It was a very generous sushi rolls and filled me up. The spiciness had a nice bite but was not overwhelming.

Danny was a great waiter! I was a bit wary taking my two kids to this restaurant because it looked "fancy" and "intimate" inside, but Danny made us feel welcome. He kept checking in on us and even offered to put the kids order in first. Also, the stack of booster seats and highchairs in the corner reassured me they welcome children!

I look forward to our next visit to try the other delicious sushi items on the menu!
