DJ Turns FOUR

My baby boy, DJ,  just turned four years old. I'm having a bit of the baby blues realizing my baby isn't so much a baby anymore. He still small enough to carry and still smells a bit like a baby. He still loves to cuddle and gives me kisses throughout the day. This year he'll start preschool which is definitely one of those milestones that he's not a baby anymore.

I asked him a few questions that I hope to ask him every birthday from this year on. Here are his answers:
1. What is your favorite color?
Red
2. What is your favorite toy?
Hot Wheels Volcano Racing
3. What is your favorite fruit? Apples
4. What is your favorite TV show? Good Morning America, 10 News (he watches news every morning during breakfast), Hole in the Wall (his You Tube obsession)
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Pancakes

(He doesn't actually play, he watches his dad play)

10. What is your favorite song? America the Beautiful (he's loved it since the Superbowl commercial)
11. What is your favorite book? I don't have a favorite book (Not that he doesn't read. I think he just couldn't choose one. Yes, just a little defensive ;))
12. Who is your best friend? Kaileigh, Bailey, (both are big brother's classmates) and Kuya (big bro)
13. What is your favorite cereal? Honey Smacks
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Ring around the rosey and tag (neither of which he does very often)
15. What is your favorite drink? Milk and chocolate milk
16. What is your favorite holiday? Winter

18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Cereal
19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? At Disneyland (he didn't care what we ate as long as it was at Disneyland)
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? A doctor

So, for weeks he's been hinting at what he wanted for his birthday.
"Mom, I want to go to Disneyland. We'll ride Star Tours, then Small World, then California Adventure to my favorite ride Toy Story Mania, and..."
"Mom, on my birthday, I'm going to wake up and you'll say 'happy birthday' then I'll have decorations and a special breakfast!"
"Mom, I want a ukulele for my birthday."
"Mom, when we go to Disneyland for my birthday, I'm going to wear my Mickey t-shirt, OK?"
"Mom, on my birthday, I want special pancakes, OK?"
"Mom, on my birthday Mama and Papa, Lola and Tatay, cousins Noah and Jonah, Auntie and Uncle, and Mama Nene and everyone is going to be there!"
Almost every day for the past month, he had to mention something about his birthday. He was so excited.

Birthday eve, we all had dinner with hubby's side of the family. DJ ate one of his favorite foods: Chicken Katsu and Rice! He was surprised with a race car set he'd been asking for.

Birthday mornning, DJ was greeted with Mickey Mouse decor at the breakfast table with special Mickey Mouse pancakes! Mama and Papa then came over and surprised him with his ukulele!

BirthDAY, we spent at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. The entire day was DJ's call. Where ever he wanted to go and do, we went along. Big brother Jelo and Mama got tired mid-day and decided to people watch for a bit. Dad also sat out shortly after that not being able to keep up with DJ's need to get the most out of his birthday. Finally, at about 5pm he said "OK mom, I'm ready to go home now" as he walked a bit slower and leaned up against me as we walked. He was spent and so was I.

I tried as much as possible to meet all of his expectations on his birthday. Even if i fell a bit short, he still had a great birthday! The big smiles say it all!

Happy birthday DJ! You continue to bring joy, laughter, and love to my life every day!
